Peggy caught some nice fish on the Taylor River today, including this pretty cutthroat. Very fun!
Gunnison River
Jack and Debbie had a good morning on the Gunnison River today, catching some really nice browns and rainbows. Deb’s brown trout here measured nearly 18 inches. Nice job!
Taylor River @ Taylor River Lodge
Hank did great yesterday on the Taylor River at the Taylor River Lodge, catching browns, rainbows, cutthroat, and cutbows. Hank was a guest of Eleven, with the guide service provided by Irwin Guides. I really enjoyed the day with Hank and had fun showing him the water for the first time.
Taylor River
Had a challenging but fun couple of days with the Jersey boys again this year. John and Tom did well on the Gunnison River and Taylor River this week, catching trout and also some salmon. We hit a good PMD and BWO hatch on the Taylor River today and they both caught good fish on dry flies, like this nice brown trout John got here.
Down Time
After a very busy summer, I’ve been enjoying some time off and getting out on the rivers some. Had an incredible day of dry fly fishing on the East River yesterday. Seemed appropriate to post a photo of this nice 18-inch brown with my GDO (Guide’s Day Off) bamboo rod. September will be busy, so it’s nice to have a little down time right now.
River Time
Had fun out there throwing dry flies with Alfred and Eric today on the Gunnison River. They both did well and caught some nice fish. I decided to post this photo because sometimes a day on the river is about much more than the fish you catch.
Taylor River
Had a lot of fun today on the Taylor River with Robert, Zander, and Remy. We hit a nice PMD hatch up in the canyon and the guys did very well. Remy did an excellent job his first time out with a fly rod.
Gunnison River
We had to work hard for fish today, but we found a few very nice trout like this very pretty brown John caught here.
Taylor River C&R
Rich had an excellent day of dry fly fishing at the Taylor River C&R stretch today. We had a mix of sunshine with thunder and lightning and pouring rain, but the clouds and rain helped the hatches, and the fish got on the feed. He landed a lot of really nice browns and rainbows, mostly on size 18 and 20 emerger and adult patterns, all on the surface. Really fun day!
Hoppers!
It was a fun day of hopper fishing with Hans and Max today. Max landed some very nice wild trout today, including this beautiful 19-inch brown which inhaled the hopper.
